5 Area High Schools Join in a Multi Class Reunion on June 26-28
Fort Myers, FL - With nearly 200 guests, a first time ever history making experience was enjoyed over the weekend.
Hosted by Cypress Lake High School's Class of 1980, classmates who graduated from 1970-1990 from Fort Myers, North Fort Myers, Riverdale and Cape Coral High Schools were invited to attend this monumental event. The Downtown Riverfront area was chosen by the committee to help support area store owners and show classmates how much the area has changed over the years. A "Meet & Greet" was held on Friday night at the Legacy Harbour Resort deck overlooking the Caloosahatchee River. Saturday started with a 5K Run/Walk in Centennial Park then over the Edison Bridge and back.
Commemorative t-shirts were worn by participants & donations were accepted to support "Annie's Walk" & the fight against cancer along with the James Brunson Youth Development Foundation. A luncheon paddlewheeler cruise on the "JP" up the Caloosahatchee River to the Franklin Locks was thoroughly enjoyed as DJ (and Cypress Lake alumni Randy Senter) "The Mouth From the South" provided live entertainment. The evening was capped off with at Club Celsius as attendees wore fashion from the 70's and 80's. Sunday morning a church service was given by Dr. William Glover (a Cypress Lake alumni and pastor of Mount Hermon) and a praise group was put together by Darryl Golden (a Cypress Lake alumni) as classmates joined together in song to form a choir. The weekend ended at the Lani Kai beach resort on Fort Myers Beach and the band recognized our group with a shout out to us and played numerous songs from the '80's.
